Buccaneers, who had a chance at top six before today, now highly depend on K.U's remaining match outcomes to feature.

It is musical chairs in the race for the final Super Cup slot as Kenyatta University and Buccaneers eye the single chance to feature in the post-season tournament.

The varsity side picked two crucial wins on the weekend, defeating Boomarang 39-33 on Saturday before seeing off Kahawa 47-32 to get to nine wins in 15 matches.

Against Kahawa, the Tobias Ocholla-coached varsity side led 27-17 in the first half and managed to hold on Kahawa's late charge in the second half for the 15-point victory.

The match was, however, not without its fair share of drama as Wencestlaus Ochieng was sent off the match in the 57th minute and will miss K.U's next two fixtures.

The player had received a two-minute penalty for dangerous play and after using abusive language to the referee, he received a red card quickly followed by a blue card that will see him miss the two games.

"The two wins put us in a good position to make it to the top six . We have fought for this and we deserve to be in the Super Cup. With three matches left against Vickers, Generation and Gunners we will be hoping to pick wins and by big margins just to be on the safe side if the decision comes down to goal difference.

There is the risk of having any of the teams handing walkovers and not that would be unfortunate since we need to run the scores and cover whatever deficit we have against Buccaneers," said K.U captain Samuel Katuva

Meawhile, Buccaneers saw their Cup hopes dealt a blow in their Sunday match as they played for a 29 all draw against 16-placed Boomarang in an unexpected turn of events.

Going into the Sunday match, Buccaneers had the upper hand in the race for the final Cup slot, with a superior goal difference against K.U but the draw could see them miss out if the varsity side win all their remaining matches.

"We led 16-10 in the first half but fatigue kicked in, under Boomarang's pressure, in the second half and we allowed them to catch up for the draw. Some of our players had to play in a University tournament earlier in the day and that might have come back to haunt us.

It is a disappointing result, very unexpected but all is not lost. We still have a chance in the event K.U slip up in their remaining matches. We will do our best to win the remaining matches and leave the rest to fate," said Buccaneers' skipper Franicks Njoroge
