Kenya's Beach Volleyball final squad for Commonwealth Games qualifiers named

Kenya's Beach Volleyball final list for both men and women to do duty in the Commonwealth Games qualifiers set for Accra, Ghana next week has been released.

Olympians Gaudencia Makokha and Brackcides Agala headline the women's final squad alongside the pair of Naomi Too and partner Veronica Adhiambo, with Phoscah Kasisi and Yvonne Wavinya being overlooked from the provisional squad.

The team comprising of three players in each category has been preparing for the qualifiers since March 8 at the New Big Tree Beach Resort in Mombasa under the tutelage of Salome Wanjala and Patrick Owino for women and men teams respectively.

The experienced duo of Ibrahim Oduor and James Mwaniki, who won the third leg of the national beach circuit in February, highlights men's side final pick with Donald Mchete partnering Nicholas Lagat in the other pick.

Lagat was impressive during the third beach volleyball meet in Mombasa earlier while partnering Cornelius Kiplagat for GSU, facing off with Oduor and Mwaniki in the final where he won the heart of the coaches and team manager Sammy Mulinge.

The Kenyan sides will have West Africans as their toughest competition as their usual arch-rivals the North Africans are not part of the Commonwealth countries.
