
Kenyan boxer Makaveli set to fight Tajikistan's Elchibek in Dubai

Mwangi moved to Dubai in 2012, joining Round 10 Boxing Club. He turned pro in 2013 and made his debut in 2015.
Kenyan boxer Nick Mwangi popularly known as Makaveli (10-5-1, 7 KOs) is set to returns to the ring on April 29 in a non-title lightweight fight against Tajikistan's Elchibek Niyozmamadov (1-2-1) in Dubai.
The reigning WBA Asia champion is coming off a point’s defeat on 30 September last year against Tanzania's Emmanuel Mwakyembe in Dar es Salaam.
Mwangi who began boxing at 11 in Ruiru after being inspired by Kenya’s legendary two-time Olympic medalist Philip Waruinge and Olympian Benson Gicharu says the this is a fight he must win at all costs to get back to contention ahead of his title defence.
“Fighting on 29 April is a game changer for me. l have prepared the best way and I am ready to send another message that I am still among the best in the division," said the Dubai-based Kenyan.
"After this fight I will start preparing for my title defence here in Dubai probably in June,” the former Prisons Boxing Club boxer added.
Mwangi knocked out India's Sachin Dekwal in the seventh round to capture WBA Asia lightweight title on 12 September 2021 in Dubai.
