Kenya Morans forward Ariel Okall added another piece of silverware in his medal cabinet on Sunday as his team- Ahli Sidab- overpowered opponents Nizwa Club 70-58 to claim third spot in the recently concluded Oman Cup Tournament.
Ahli Sidab had initially taken part in the preliminary stages of the Oman Cup - also known as the Sultan Cup - winning 73-51 in the first round before falling to his former side Al Bashaer 51-61 in Friday’s semifinals.
In the bronze medal match, Okal blasted to a game high 22 points, nine rebounds and five assists in the win, while also stacking up the board with six steals and one block.
The former Namuwongo Blazers man shot 50% from the field; converting eight out of his attempted 16 shots while hitting three of his total free throws.
The performance won Okal the player of the game award, adding up to the recent gong the big man had scooped up weeks ago - the best forward in the 2022-23 Oman Basketball League.

Ahli Sidab at the end of the regular league season finished fourth place after back to back losses to Al Seeb and Nizwa Club in the last knock-out games to wrap up the season.
Okal in the 2020-2021 season won the league and Sultan Cup double with Al Bashaer before making his move to Ugandan side Namuwongo Blazers where he finished runners up to Basketball Africa League side City Oilers.
In yet to be confirmed news however, developments reaching Mozzart Sport understand of a fight between two opponents from the two sides in the finals - Al Bashaer and Al Seeb - that took place on Monday evening that could see both teams disqualified from the finals, with Ahli Sidab getting the elevation to first position.
Should that happen, Okal could also end up bagging the tournament’s top scorer and potentially the Most Valuable Player.
