Kenya Hockey Union releases fixtures for 2025 Season

The Kenya Hockey Union (KHU) has officially released the first leg fixtures for the 2025 season, which is set to start on Saturday, April 12, 2025.

Additionally, the KHU Masters Tournament Series One will be played on Saturday, April 5, and Sunday, April 6, hosted by the Kakamega County Hockey Association.

Initially scheduled to begin on Saturday, March 15, the league kick-off was postponed due to various logistical challenges.

The KHU cited the need to ensure that the pitches proposed by clubs were ready for use, the unpreparedness of some teams following a team managers’ resolution that only registered clubs would participate, and the necessity to accommodate clubs from higher learning institutions, which constitute approximately 60% of the league, given their varying academic calendars.

In the released fixtures, the KHU Men’s Premier League will feature Western Jaguars, Butali Warriors, Sikh Union Nairobi, Kenya Police, USIU-Africa, Wazalendo, Strathmore University, Daikyo Heroes, and newly promoted sides KCA University and Parklands Sports Club.

The KHU Women’s Premier League will see Blazers Hockey Club, Strathmore University, Mombasa Sports Club, Kenyatta University, Sliders Hockey Club, Amira Sailors Hockey Club, USIU-A Ladies, Lakers Hockey Club, and promoted teams Kisumu Queens and Twinkle Hockey Club battle for top honours.

The Men’s Super League, the second tier of competition, will comprise Sailors, University of Eldoret, Parkroad Badgers, Kenyatta University, Greensharks, University of Nairobi, Wazalendo Masters, Mvita XI, Kisumu Youngstars, Kisii Falcons, and Parkroad Tigers.

The Women’s Super League will feature the University of Nairobi, JKUAT Ladies, NCBA Wazalendo Pearls, Multimedia University, Mwiki Hockey Club, Swans Hockey Club, Daystar University, Lakers Hockey Club B, and Gorillas Hockey Club – Ladies.

The Men’s National League, the third tier of competition, will be divided into two zones.

The Eastern Zone will include Mombasa Sports Club, Mombasa West, Gorillas, Daystar University, Wazalendo Youth, TUK, and UoN Cubs, while the Western Zone will feature Western Jaguars Dev, Kaimosi University, Kisii University, Multimedia University, JKUAT, Egerton Uni Sharks, and Nyari Hockey Club.
