The journeyman joins the varsity side on a season-long deal after effectively ducking KPA's attempts to re-sign him

Kenya Morans forward Ariel Okall has made a return to the land of Museveni where he is set to light up the Ugandan basketball league, suiting up for Kampala International University (KIU) Titans.

Okall broke the news of his return to Uganda, having previously played for Falcons in the same league, through his website, thedoctorsreport.

The former Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) player had just returned to the country from Oman where he was playing for AlBashaer Club before the Oman league was suspended indefinitely due to a surge in Covid-19 positive cases. The Oman league was called off while his club was three wins away from clinching the title.

Okall is set to rekindle his bromance with Somali International and former Equity Bank ace Feisal Aden as well as Congolese guard Bwanga Michael. The three had played together for KPA as recently as the Basketball Africa League (BAL) qualifiers in Rwanda where they went unbeaten in the group stage of the last round qualifiers but lost the slot, having missed the group opening fixture.

"I have worked with the two players and I know what we can achieve for the team. I also know how KIU run their business. The KIU boss has been my friend for years so I felt we could workout something to get me going," offered the forward who had earlier indicated that he is looking to stay fit in readiness for Afrobasket Championship.

With his BAL dreams crushed by what was later established to be internal wrangles that delayed the team's trip to Rwanda, leading to the dockers handing a walkover, he moved to Algeria for a season-long stint in 2020 which was cut short by Covid-19.

He had joined AlBashaer in February 2021, with the pandemic, again robbing him of a full season with his new employer.

Upon return to the country, his former employers KPA attempted to lure him back to Mombasa but the forward settled for the Ugandan side whose league is on, having jumped off a fortnight ago.
