The interschool circuit will conclude in October with the NCBA Lisle Shaw Interschool Tournament, open exclusively to juniors with official handicaps

Over 25 schools tee off at the second NCBA Interschool Golf Tournament set for Windsor Golf Hotel & Country Club on Friday, 16 May.

The competition has attracted 168 juniors for the second edition of the event this year, organized by the Junior Golf Foundation (JGF), in partnership with the NCBA Bank.

Competition is expected to be stiffer with the entry of new schools, including the Consolata School Nairobi, Nova Pioneer-Tatu Primary, Pioneer Junior School, and The Sun and Shield Primary & Junior School in Nakuru.

Designed to cater to both handicapped and non-handicapped juniors, the tournament continues to expand the reach and accessibility of golf among school-going children.

It serves as a key component of JGF’s Get Into Golf Initiative, a national movement aimed at growing junior golf from grassroots to elite levels.

The competition is structured into four main categories, including 10 Years & Under, 11-12, 13-14, and 15-18 Years. Schools field teams of four players in the categories, where the best three scores count for the team.

This tournament is not just about scoring, it is about inclusion, access, and growing the game,” said JGF president Vincent Mukiri. “By expanding participation, we’re shaping the future of golf in Kenya.”

St Ruth School and Home School, dominant performers in the March edition, are among the top contenders heading into the clash.

Sensational 12-year-old Kanana Muthomi delivered an outstanding performance at the first 2025 NCBA Interschools Golf Tournament at Windsor Golf and Country Club in March to return a score of two-under-par 70.

Representing the Home Schooling team, Kanana partnered with Jeremie Maina, Aahill Jivanjee, and Jeff Kivi to claim victory in the 11-14 years category with 232 points, followed by Rosslyn Academy (241) and Kenton College (243).

In the 15-18 years category, the Home Schooling team again took the top spot with 245 points, ahead of Braeburn Garden Estate (263) and Peponi School (267).

The 10-years-and-under category saw St. Ruth School triumph with 127 points, just three ahead of second-placed MLC Schools, while Kenton College finished third.

The interschool circuit will conclude in October with the NCBA Lisle Shaw Interschool Tournament, open exclusively to juniors with official handicaps.
