The great champion came to terms with not playing in the last Grand Slam of the season in New York

Another Wimbledon under his belt, what next? It seems that the chances of Novak Djokovic playing at the last Grand Slam of the season, the US Open in New York, are minimal. The reason is the sanctions of the American authorities that those who have not been vaccinated against the coronavirus cannot enter the territory of the United States of America.

The legendary John McEnroe, expert consultant in numerous media, said that Djokovic should be allowed to play in New York.

"Politicians started interfering too much. They did it in Australia. Let the man come and play in America, I mean, really people. This is crazy," McEnroe said.

Numerous people with the same opinion, athletes, actors, journalists, are on Twitter talking about it... At the press conference, 'No-Vax Djo-Covid', as the media nicknamed him, repeated that he has not changed his position regarding vaccination.

"I'm not vaccinated and I'm not planning to get vaccinated so the only good news I can have is them removing the mandated green vaccine card or whatever you call it to enter United States or exemption.," Djokovic said, adding that he is not too optimistic that he will play at the US Open.

"I do not know. I think exemption is not realistically possible".

Last year, Novak was on the threshold of the 'calendar grand slam', but he was stopped in the US Open final by Russian Danil Medvedev.

"I'm on vacation. Whether I'll be playing any tournaments soon or not, I'll definitely be resting up for the next few weeks as it's been quite a busy and demanding period for me over the past few months. There was a lot of tennis, I was happy about that," said Djokovic.

Once the best tennis player in the world, the winner of 21 Grand Slam tournaments, despite the new title on London grass, the seventh in his career, and the fourth in a row, will fall from third place in the ATP list to seventh, since Wimbledon was deprived of ranking points this year due to the ban playing Russian and Belarusian players in the tournament because of the war in Ukraine.

Djokovic's ranking will continue to drop if he is unable to play for the next few months. Before the US Open, there are masters in Toronto and Cincinnati, while the US Open starts on August 29.
