The home side is looking to qualify for the 2026 BAL and improve on their performance in the Conference for a chance to play in the final playoffs

Lebanese (of South Sudan descent) power forward Ater Majok is back with the Nairobi City Thunder, ahead of the Nairobi-hosted Road to BAL Elite 16 East Division.

Majok was part of the Thunder squad that qualified for the Basketball Africa League (BAL), the first Kenyan side to achieve the feat, last year at the same venue of the Tuesday, 18 to Sunday, 23 November competition, Kasarani Indoor Gymnasium.

He, however, did not follow through with them to the BAL, choosing to instead join teammate Abdoulaye Harouna Amadou at ASC Ville de Dakar in the Sahara Conference, failing to qualify for the Last Eight.

His signing is the last piece for the Bradley Ibs-coached side's revamping efforts, having already signed American point guard Chase Adams, the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the 2025 BAL Combine, a scouting event preceding the conferences after the qualification process, held in Rabat, Morocco, from 5 to 7 January.

American Power Forward Lance Thomas was the Thunder's second reveal of the season, joining the side in training in Nairobi a few weeks ago. He brings a versatile style of play and has fit right in with Ibs' charges from his first training session, according to the tactician.

Another power forward in Kenya Morans, Bramwel Muchina, is also joining from former national champions Kenya Ports Authority (KPA), after trying out with Thunder for a few weeks.

The home side is looking to qualify for the 2026 BAL and improve on their performance in the conference for a chance to play in the final playoffs. On debut, playing in the Nile Conference, hosted in Kigali, Rwanda, from 17 to 25 May, Ibs’ charges picked a single victory against South Africa’s MBB in six matches.
