
All volleyball activities suspended countrywide

Kioni has been at the helm of the federation since 1998 with a break between 2000-2006
Following the passing on of Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) boss Waithaka Kioni on Sunday 9 April morning, all volleyball activities across the country have been suspended.
The long-serving sports administrator is reported to have been taken ill on Saturday and rushed to hospital where he passed on early Sunday morning.
The suspension of all activities, announced by the federation Secretary General (SG) Ben Juma brings to a halt the three- day Bitok International Tournament that was entering its final day on the same Sunday.
Both men and women’s categories were set to play their semi finals on Sunday at Nyayo and Kasarani respectively with the finals set for Kasarani where the winner was set to walk away with Ksh 100,000.

The move has also stopped two grassroot tournaments in Kiminini, the initial venue for the Bitok event. The schools, colleges and self-supporting categories of the tournament were ongoing as only the senior category was moved to Nairobi.
Additionally, activities of the Mwitoti Open in Mumias, Kakamega County. The event was also set to conclude on Sunday.
