
Aga Khan Academy emerge champions in Kiambu Minnows Swimming Championships

Kiambu County will be hosting the Mt. Kenya Bloc Swimming Championships that will be used to select a team of about 100 swimmers that will participate in the Kampala Invitational Swimming Championships in April
Aga Khan Academy were crowned the overall winners of the Kenya Swimming Federation Kiambu Minnows Swimming Championships on Saturday 25 March as they finished ahead of Super Marlins Swim Club and Potterhouse School Runda in the event held at the Braeburn Imani International School in Thika.
In the gala that attracted over 200 swimmers from Kiambu county, Aga Khan Academy topped combined team-scores with a points total of 484.50, with second placed Super Marlins Swim Club recording 405.50 points.
Third placed Potterhouse School garnered 313 points with the hosts placing fourth with 198 points - 25 ahead of Woodcreek School who wrapped up the top five places.
The overall winners also dominated the boys’ category- ranking highest with 250 points - a whooping 137 points ahead of their closest challengers Braeburn Swimming Club who came in second with 113 points.
It was Super Marlins Swimming Club who won the girls’ category however, finishing 59 points ahead of Aga Khan Academy with Potterhouse School coming in third with 140 total points.

“I am encouraged by the overall performances and determination from the swimmers to post best personal times in the minnows championships,” Joseph Ndungu - West Ridge School coach and KSF Kiambu Executive Committee member said after the event.
“It is my intention to have my team participate in the upcoming Mt. Kenya Bloc Swimming Championships and even have more public schools participate," Ndungu added.
As earlier reported on Mozzart Sport, Kiambu County will be hosting the Mt. Kenya Bloc Swimming Championships that will be used to select a team of about 100 swimmers that will participate in the Kampala Invitational Swimming Championships in April, with a Dubai meeting also on the cards.
In the individual scores, Gabriella Njuguna of Woodcreek School won the five and under girls event with 32 points with Suki Ndegwa of Aga Khan Academy coming in second with 11 points.
Leo Kimani of Aga Khan Academy topped the 5 and Under boys individual scores with 19 points with fellow school mates Healy Ciaran, Natasha Ngugi , Heri Ndambuki and Anissa Langat winning their individual categories in the 6,7 and 8-9 year old events.
