The federation's elective General meeting is scheduled for 29 October

Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) executive has called on county-based branches to urgently complete their registration to pave way for national elections.

The National Executive Council (NEC) held a meeting on Saturday as they look to put their house in order ahead of the scheduled national elections set for 29 October.

From the meeting, it was agreed that branch elections are to be put on hold.

"In accordance with the decision made by the KVF NEC during their meeting on the 8th October, 2022 branches are hereby advised not to hold any Branch Elections. This decision has been arrived at due to the following reasons:

(i) The Constitution as amended by the Special General Meeting (SGM) has not been registered.

(ii)We have not confirmed the number of county based branches that are registered with the Registrar of Sports. Further communication regarding these matters will be provided to you as more information is received.

The National office is engaging the Registrar of Sports with regards to these matters. We urge the County Based branches to urgently register their branches for those that are yet to do so," read a KVF statement after the meeting.

The directive follows a communication of intent to hold elections by several branches following a notice from KVF's Secretary General on 23 September that the national elective General meetings would be held on 29 October.

The branches of Kakamega and Vihiga newly created by the amended KVF constitution 2022 in compliant with the sports act 2013 had already sent a notice of Quadroannual General meetings for 15 October when they were set to hold their own elections.

To apply to be registered as a National sports organization or County sports association, applicants are expected to produce various documents with national organisations required to have evidence of at least 24 registered branches.

Other documents accompanying the applications include a certified copy of the constitution of the organization; a short, medium and long-term strategic plan, an updated register of all affiliates, clubs, officials and athletes, evidence of Clubs and or Sub-Counties sports organizations affiliated to it (for County Sports Associations) among others.
