French striker reveals how he had to argue with The Special One to get his ticket for the starting XI

There's no mid-road when it comes to working with Jose Mourinho. You either go his way or highway; end up praising him or hating him.

And it's always like that, regardless of the name of the player we're talking about - from those bystanders with just a couple of minutes spent on the pitch in one of Mourinho's teams or Ballon d'Or winners.

And this year's probable winner of the prestigious award, French striker Karim Benzema, had just revealed his charming little clash with Mou back in the days when they were both at the Santiago Bernabeu. Benzema joined Real Madrid a year before the Portuguese coach, and they worked together in the Spanish capital for three seasons.

Their relationship had some ups and downs before Benzema stepped up and turned the tables by being vocal with his boss.

From that point on, it was fairytale-like, but to do so, Karim had to keep his promise...

"I had a little problem with Jose Mourinho. We met at the hotel, we had a conversation, it was the day before a LaLiga match against Mallorca. I wasn't supposed to play the match. And when we argued, I told him: 'Tomorrow put me in the starting lineup, I'll score and win the game for you''. The next day I scored, and we won 1-0", Benzema said in an interview with 'Onze Mundial'.
