When karma strikes — Real Madrid crushed Barca and ghost known as Lamine Yamal

Reading Time: 6min | Sun. 26.10.25. | 20:24

Barcelona and Yamal talked a lot before the derby — when the derby came, Real took the main word and celebrated 2:1

The long-awaited El Clasico between Real Madrid and Barcelona once again delivered high drama, controversy, and top-quality football. The build-up to the match was intense — especially after Lamine Yamal’s pre-game comments, where the young Barcelona winger made a few bold remarks about Real Madrid. He wasn’t the only one to make such statements, as the Catalan club’s officials also took part in it — all of which contributed to an even more electrifying derby. However, it seems they did themselves a disservice and looked ridiculous after this defeat by the Royal Club

As the whistle blew, Real Madrid came out with fiery intent. Just two minutes in, Vinicius Junior caused chaos on the left wing, beating Alejandro Balde and preparing to shoot before his strike hit Yamal’s leg. Referee Soto Grado initially awarded a penalty to Real Madrid, but after reviewing the footage, he overturned his decision — correctly, as it was clear Vinicius’s strike hit Yamal’s planted leg rather than an outstretched arm.

Barcelona responded with a glimpse of their own danger in the 9th minute, when Yamal cut inside from the right in his trademark style, only to send his shot narrowly wide of Thibaut Courtois’s post. Each of his touches was met with a chorus of whistles from the Madrid faithful, clearly reacting to his pre-match provocations.

The first real breakthrough came in the 12th minute, when Kylian Mbappe unleashed a stunning volley that seemed to put Madrid ahead. The Bernabeu erupted — but the joy was short-lived. After a lengthy VAR review, the goal was ruled out for a razor-thin offside in the buildup. The margin was so small that the decision looked decided by mere millimeters.

Yet, Mbappe didn’t need long to make amends. In the 22nd minute, the French superstar struck again — and this time, it counted. After a brilliant through ball from Jude Bellingham, Mbappe calmly finished past Wojciech Szczesny to give Madrid a deserved 1–0 lead. It was a moment of pure class, typical of a player built for the biggest occasions. The goal is HERE!

Madrid kept pressing — Valverde’s volley in the 26th minute flew well over, and just three minutes later, Mbappe again tested Szczesny after outplaying Cubarsi, but the Polish keeper stood firm. Seconds later, Dean Huijsen came close himself, denied once more by Szczesny’s lightning reflexes.

Barcelona’s first real chance came in the 34th minute, when Ferran Torres found himself free in the box, but his weak shot was easily gathered by Courtois. Real answered immediately — Vinicius combined well with Mbappe, dribbled into space, but chose to shoot rather than pass to Arda Guler, allowing Barca's goalkeeper to save yet again.

Madrid were dominant, and Szczesny was the only reason the score wasn’t higher. In the 37th minute, Bellingham fired from close range after a neat exchange with Carreras, but the Polish keeper somehow kept it out.

Then, completely against the run of play, Barcelona struck. A 38th-minute blunder from Arda Guler allowed Pedri to steal possession, feed Marcus Rashford, who set up Fermin Lopez for an easy finish — and suddenly it was 1–1. The goal silenced the Bernabeu and reignited the visitors’ hopes. You can see the goal HERE!

However, Real Madrid reclaimed control before the break. In the 43rd minute, a scrambled sequence in the box ended with Jude Bellingham restoring Madrid’s lead, slotting home after Militao’s improvised touch found him free inside the area. Luck may have played a role, but Madrid’s persistence was rewarded — 2–1 to the hosts. The goal is HERE!

Barcelona had one final effort in first-half stoppage time, when Ferran Torres struck a weak volley straight at Courtois, but the Belgian was never troubled.

Right from the start of the second half, Barcelona tried to assert themselves. In the 47th minute, Fermin Lopez fired from around 20 meters, but Thibaut Courtois was alert and easily collected the effort. Almost immediately, Vinicius Junior responded for Real, but his shot went straight to Szczesny, showing that both teams were probing for weaknesses early on.

The drama escalated in the 50th minute when VAR flagged a potential handball by Eric García during a run by Jude Bellingham. After careful review, referee Soto Grado awarded a penalty to Real Madrid. Kylian Mbappe stepped up confidently, yet Szczesny pulled off a brilliant save, keeping Barcelona in the match and lifting the spirits of the visitors.

Barcelona continued to threaten moments later. In the 53rd minute, Fermin Lopez was left almost unmarked and took a shot from distance, but Courtois was once again solid, collecting it without difficulty.

Real Madrid looked to regain control and create chances of their own. In the 66th minute, Vinicius tried a long-range strike from the left side, but the ball went just wide of the post. Despite the misses, Madrid’s dominance in possession and sharp passing repeatedly forced Barcelona onto the back foot.

An interesting situation occurred in the 72nd minute when Vinicius was substituted. He showed remarkable defiance while leaving the field and was visibly furious at Xabi Alonso’s decision.

The match was capped off by Pedri, who received a second yellow and was sent off with a red card. After that, tensions flared between the benches of both teams, even drawing police onto the pitch. And if you’re wondering who was definitely involved in the scuffle — yes, you guessed it, Vinicius Junior
