Apparently, Robert Lewandowski was on the verge of coming to Old Trafford back in the day when he used to play for Borussia Dortmund

Barcelona forward Robert Lewandowski revealed that, if things had gone differently, he could have been a Manchester United striker in the past.

Speaking in an interview with the BBC, Lewa explained that he was close to joining the Red Devils at one point. It is well-documented that a travel ban caused by a volcanic eruption in Iceland halted a move to Blackburn Rovers in 2010.

Still, Lewandowski explained that two years later, he was keen on a move to United.

"To Manchester United. I was decided, I said yes to the club, I wanted to join Manchester United. To see Alex Ferguson. At that time, it was my second year at Dortmund, and I knew that they could not just sell me, because if they waited, they would get more money, and maybe I could wait a year or two. It's true that I'd said yes to United.

"It could have been a great experience, but looking back, I was playing for Bayern Munich, then Barcelona. I'm very happy with the path of my career. I'm to be a part of these two great clubs, and I have no feeling that I missed something, because every decision I made, I wanted to take it," concluded the Polish striker.
