Ogai's second stint at the Kisumu based side ends after a poor run of five games without a win as club says he was only volunteering his services.
Western Stima FC have relieved Paul Ogai of his duties at the club on Monday, February 1 after a torrid run of form.
The club confirmed the sacking of the coach in a statement and thanked him for his services after joining the club back in November.
“The club has parted ways with head coach Paul Ogai. We thank him for the great work and wish him the very best in his future endeavours,” read the statement.
Ogai joined the Powermen, after they were rendered coach-less back in August when Salim Babu decamped for Wazito to deputise Fred Ambani who was also fired before the start of the season.
Speaking to MozzartSport, Western Stima chairman Laban Jobita revealed that Ogai had no contract with the club.
“Ogai was volunteering to be a coach and it should not appear as if we sacked him, he had no contract with the club,” he said.
The tactician left Stima in April 2019 year and joined National Super League side Coast Stima three months later where he was at the helm until the season was cut short by the coronavirus pandemic but rejoined the Kisumu based side in November 2020.
Efforts to reach Ogai for comments on his Western Stima departure were unsuccessful as he failed to return any of the calls at the time of publishing the article.
Stima have only picked up one win this season and have been on a five-game winless run since beating AFC Leopards 2-0.
The club has also been rocked by match-fixing allegations with Police in Kisumu arresting a Ugandan national accused of attempting to bribe Stima’s chairman and players to influence the result of their match against KCB.
Kisumu Central sub-county Police Boss Peter Karam revealed that Jobita alerted police that the suspect approached him with an intention of fixing the game in exchange of cash.
Ogai becomes the third managerial casualty in the Football Kenya Federation Premier League with Sofapaka letting go of John Baraza and Nzoia Sugar demoting Sylvester Mulukurwa.
According to reports, Stima are set to replace Ogai with former Sony Sugar FC and Gusii United head coach Abdallah Juma who has amassed a wealth of experience in coaching having had stints at Thika United, Chemelil Sugar, Bidco United, KCB, FC Talanta, and Ushuru FC.
