Budding right back expresses gratitude to his teammate for his unrivalled sportsmanship
KCB right-back Brian Wepo has credited teammate and Kenyan international Baraka Badi for helping him settle at the club with ease.
Wepo arrived at KCB last season from Nzoia Sugar but he has seen limited playing time as Zedekiah 'Zico' Otieno prefers Badi to man the defensive flank.
Wepo who is in his third year in the top flight opened up his blossoming football relationship with Badi, his supposed rival for game time. The former Kakamega High School alumnus labeled Badi as a generous teammate as he shares the tips he gathers from the Harambee Stars camp whenever he is summoned for international duties.
He heaped praises on the former Thika United right-back for pushing him to get out of his comfort zone and double his efforts in training.
"The competition from Badi pushes me to work harder and I believe my time to play week in week out will come. I consider myself as his understudy rather than a rival . He is a close friend who helps me rectify my mistakes and counsels me since he has been in the league longer than me. He shares with me the tips he sources from the national team camp too which hopefully will go a long way in making me a better player," he opened up
Wepo who can be deployed in the offensive flank also thanked Nzoia Sugar for offering him the opportunity to showcase his talent after finishing his high school studies. The Mumias born player joined the sugar millers in 2018 from Green Commandos.
"Nzoia gave me the platform to express myself after school and I am forever indebted to them. The technical bench and the fans were patient with me and backed me whenever I made mistakes," he added
Wepo clocked 90 minutes during their 1-0 win over Vihiga United at the start of the month and came off the bench against Bandari and Kakamega Homeboyz.
