Wazito will take on league leaders Kakamega Homeboyz on Sunday at Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega

Wazito FC attacker Curtis Wekesa says they have to start taking the chances in order to turn around their season with only seven matches left to the end of the current campaign.

The Fred Ambani-led team currently occupies the playoff spot and are winless in the last eight games. With Vihiga Bullets breathing down their neck, they risk dropping into the red zone if their fortunes do not change for the better soon enough.

Wazito’s Achilles hill has been in attack where they have been missing chances week in and week out. It's something that coach Ambani has insisted on in training saying they have had to go back to basics after every matchday in order to have the attackers firing again.

It is an area that the attacker believes they have to improve on saying they end up getting punished for not taking their opportunities and in the end drop points that they should be picking.

"We have to keep working and ensure that we reduce on the mistakes that we make. For example, we have to make the chances that we create count because the truth is we have been creating many goal-scoring opportunities which we don't utilize and in the end we get punished. It is an area that we have to improve on in the remaining matches, “he stated.

On the team’s survival chances, the speedy attacker believes that it is an achievable target but wants his side to start picking points as soon as possible.

"It's still in our hands but as I said we have to improve, we have to make these chances count and I am confident that at the end of the season we will retain our top-flight status," he added.

Wazito will be in Kakamega on Sunday to play Kakamega Homeboyz.
