Onyango sat out of Everton Under 23's draw while Waweru and Cheruiyot oversaw Gabon's win over Comoros.

Kenyan referee Peter Waweru Kamaku was assisted by Gilbert Cheruiyot in officiating Gabon’s win over Comoros in the Africa Cup of Nations while Tyler Onyango missed Everton Under 23’s 2-2 draw against Crystal Palace.

Waweru & Cheruiyot

Peter Waweru Kamaku and Gilbert Cheruiyot were picked to officiate in the tournament among 64 other officials from various countries and took charge of their first game in Gabon’s 1-0 win over Comoros.

Comoros were making their debut in the continental showpiece after denying Kenya a spot in the tourney after finishing runners up behind Egypt.

The Panthers had a quiet start to the game but burst into life in the 16th minute when Aaron Boupendza was released on the left channel and let loose of a shot from a tight angle that flew into the top corner.

Gabon goalkeeper Jean Amonome was immense as he left his lines a number of times to bail out his nation but should have been punished when he handled the ball outside his own area with VAR failing to spot the infringement.

Tyler Onyango

With Everton being decimated by injuries, Tyler Onyango has been temporarily been promoted to the first team as he missed Everton Under 23’s 2-2 draw against Crystal Palace in the Premier League 2.

Stanley Mills opened the scoring for Everton in the 33rd minute before an own goal from Ellis Simms restored parity for Palace at the stroke of the hour mark.

Isaac Price restored Everton’s lead in the 68th minute but Jesuran Rak-Sakyi stole a point for Palace in the 72nd minute as The Blues moved above cross-town rivals Liverpool on the log.
