Jose Rojo Martin Pacheta has had a colourful career despite some bizarre setbacks

Newly promoted Villarreal's new coach took advantage of an interview on the 'Radioestadio Noche' program to remember the day he was fired from a lower-league team on the recommendation of - a fortune teller. Believe it or not...

"Cartagena fired me after finishing second in a league in 2013, winning at home 2-0 against Cacereno... With that victory, we secured the promotion playoffs (from Second B to Second A league). They fired me after that game," recalls the 55-year-old Jose Rojo Martin Pacheta, recalling his dismissal from Cartagena in 2013.

"One of the statements that were made public was that the decision was of that type... Because the fortune teller told them that we were not going to go up with me".

In 2022, Pacheta acknowledged that this sacking still hurts him.

"I haven't recovered from that one yet. A fortune teller had told the president that we were not going to be promoted with him, and he kicked me out. I don't know what would have happened with Pacheta, but without me, they didn't get promoted."
