Latest ranking serves as additional motivation to go for the title in style.

Three-time Women Premier League (WPL) champions Vihiga Queens have gone nine matches unbeaten and as the league approaches its halfway mark, the side is looking to keep their winning streak going into the second leg.

Tactician Boniface Nyamunyamu says their recent ranking by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS) that placed the side eighth in the continent and 165th globally is motivation for yet another title.

Vihiga, having lost the title last season to Thika Queens are looking to dethrone the holder and do so in style, in an unbeaten run if their own since Thika did it for their title.

"The entire team is highly motivated and nit only are we targeting to win the next two matches to complete the first leg unbeaten, we are chasing a similar run in the second leg. We have two trick6 fixtures remaining in the first leg, against Kangemi Ladies and Thika Queens and we have to be careful with the two," offered Nyamunyamu.

The team's 165th ranking with 85 points follows the club’s stellar performance at last year's CAF Zonal Qualifiers (CECAFA) and TotalEnergies CAF Women's Champions League in Nairobi Kenya and Cairo, Egypt respectively.

The inaugural CL winners Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies of South Africa top the African IFFHS Women's Club World rankings lost and are 26th globally with 210 points.

"We are proud of our ranking and are looking for more opportunities to play at that level hence our determination to win the league. We have seen the opportunities playing at the CL level has opened for us and we do not want to miss out on any future opportunities," added Nyamunyamu.
