Dean Henderson has had enough of waiting at Old Trafford

English goalkeeper Dean Henderson returned to Manchester United as an established Premier League player following his successful loan with Sheffield United. But even though he's been promised a place between the sticks, the 24-year-old has only started two games all season.

The lack of playing opportunities has led Henderson to grow totally disillusioned with life at Old Trafford. That's why he asked the interim manager Ralf Rangnick to let him go out on loan to a club that would guarantee regular first-team football to the strong shot-stopper.

Now Rangnick has addressed the situation and reiterated that United have no plans to let Henderson leave in the January transfer window.

"A couple of weeks ago he asked me if he could leave but I told him I'd rather have him stay until the end of the season. We are very happy with our goalkeepers but if it’s up to me I wouldn’t want him to leave."

Henderson is contracted to Manchester United until 2025 and is prepared to leave the club just to avoid sitting on the bench.

The former Sheffield United loanee had been told he was due to start the season as the first-choice goalie but infected with Covid in pre-season, which stopped him in his tracks.

United number one David de Gea has returned to form and started every Premier League match this season, as well as five of their six Champions League group stage games.

Tottenham are monitoring Henderson's situation with a view to a summer transfer as Hugo Lloris approaches the last six months of his contract.
