Vihiga Queens secured the league title last weekend after beating Zetech Sparks 3-1 at home.

Women Premier League (WPL) Super Cup champions Ulinzi Starlets, chasing a second place finish in this year’s league campaign, got back to winning ways as they hosted Kisumu All Starlets at Ruaraka.

Coming from a series of draws, the Joseph Mwanza-coached side scored four past the relegation-threatened Kisumu to maintain the two-point difference between them and Gaspo who are now in third place.

Goals from Mercy Airo, Jentrix Kuyudi and a brace by Sheryl Angachi were enough to assure Mwanza of maintaining second place until the next round of action, despite the results of Sunday's matches.

"We had played for back-to-back draws against Thika Queens and Trans Nzoia Falcons so it was paramount to get this win. We are fighting for second place and nothing short of that. We have three matches to go and our resolve is to win all," said Mwanza.

On their part, Gaspo withstood tough test from relegation-bound Bunyore Starlets to pick a 2-1 win, a result that takes them third albeit for the night awaiting Thika Queens' match on Sunday.

Meanwhile, champions Vihiga Queens continued their unbeaten run with a 0-5 thrashing of hosts Kangemi at GEMS Cambridge.

The loss to Vihiga effectively relegates Kangemi who have only managed one win in 19 matches played so far.

Nakuru Queens picked a 1-0 victory against Kayole Starlets.
