Two matches will be played at the Ulinzi Complex

Reigning Kenyan champions Tusker will test their readiness for the 2022-2023 Football Kenya Federation Premier League season with a clash against Kenya Police on Saturday at the Nyayo Stadium. The match is scheduled to kick off at 3:00pm

The two teams have been playing test matches to gauge their preparedness for the campaign that is belatedly set to kick off next month.

Last week, Chief Executive Officers drawn from top flight clubs agreed to have the league start mid-next month.

Further, the club bosses endorsed the idea of reopening the transfer window for a month to allow clubs to update their records and do their business the legal way through the FIFA Connect portal.

Police head coach Samuel ‘Pamzo’ Omollo said the sole purpose of the taking on a team of Tusker’s calibre was figuring out which formation was working out and identifying their weak areas.

The tactician who won the league with Tusker said he was forced to make changes in his formations after losing four players to injuries.

Police will be without the quartet of David Okoth, Alvin Mang’eni, Kevin Ouma and Reagan Otieno who have been nursing injuries for a while.

I want to try a different formation and approach in the game. I have been employing different tactics in the friendly matches played before just to se how the team can grind out results in the absence of the four influential players. This is also a game I want to give my fringe players the opportunity to play and build their confidence,” he said.

The former Gor Mahia assistant coach who took over the reigns at Police in March, replacing John Bobby Ogolla while commenting on the prolonged pre-season said he was pleased with the improvement by individual players, precisely, his midfielders.

Meanwhile, AFC Leopards will tackle Posta Rangers at the Ulinzi Complex starting 11:00 am. The clash will pave way for four-time Kenyan champions Ulinzi Stars who will confront Kariobangi Sharks at the same venue. The second match is scheduled to start at 3:00pm
