Tudor changing Juve's tactical approach

The Croat is also more vocal in trainings, which have doubled since his arrival

Igor Tudor is sticking to his plan: Dušan Vlahović and Kenan Yıldız are the two players he is counting on to secure Juventus a Champions League spot and achieve the best possible result at the first Club World Cup in the U.S.—what happens after that remains to be seen. After experimenting with Randal Kolo Muani in training at Continassa during the week, Tudor has returned to prioritizing Vlahović as Juventus' main striker, while the young Turkish talent cemented his place in the squad with a match-winning goal against Genoa.

Despite a difficult season filled with injuries and tensions with Thiago Motta, Vlahović remains Juventus' top scorer with 14 goals, nine of which have come in Serie A. The Serbian striker needs just one more goal to complete his fifth consecutive double-digit season in Serie A—an impressive achievement. Another key factor for Vlahović is the trust of the new coach. Under Thiago Motta, he started only one Serie A match in 2025—against Cagliari, where he scored. With Tudor, he now has the chance to start two consecutive matches for the first time this year.

According to Calciomercato, Juve coach is also very different from his predecessor in training, repeatedly telling the players “You don’t get to rest now” during the fitness exercises. He also stepped up the number of sessions to twice a day and shouts for the squad to move with greater intensity. He is also shifting away from Motta‘s tactical approach of creating attacks from possesion based football. The Croat wants more direct football and is asking his players to go for the vertical pass quickly, rather than try horizontal or backwards options.

While Tudor has options in attack, Juventus is facing a defensive crisis ahead of their clash against Roma. Bremer and Kabal, who have been injured since the start of the season, have now been joined on the sidelines by Federico Gatti. As a result, Juve will field an emergency back three of Kalulu, Huijsen, and Kelly at the Stadio Olimpico. One positive for the Bianconeri is the return of Douglas Luiz, who will strengthen the midfield and could allow Manuel Locatelli to drop into defense if needed.
