Torino belongs to... no one - Derby della Mole ends goalless

In one of Italy’s big derbies, Juventus and Torino ended the match with the most unpopular scoreline: 0–0
A new coach, Luciano Spalletti, has arrived, but in his suitcase, there was no magic wand to instantly fix Juventus and turn the team back into winners.
After just a home draw against Sporting in the Champions League (1–1), the Bianconeri had to swallow another bitter pill tonight, failing once again to beat their city rivals Torino at home — 0–0.

The Granata came as a lower-table side but defended almost effortlessly against Juventus’s futile attacks. It was a performance that didn’t please Dusan Vlahovic either; the Serbian striker received too few passes, and in his only real chance, he was blocked in the penalty area. Vlahovic didn’t make it to the end of the match, substituted in the 64th minute for David. The replacement also had a great header saved by Torino’s goalkeeper.
Statistically, Juventus were the better team. But judging by the quality of chances, Torino may have had the edge and thus came closer to a victory. However, that matters little in the end, as the scoreboard showed “double zero,” which did nothing to please the Bianconeri fans. Spalletti has plenty of work ahead if he wants to “fix” the Old Lady and at least start dominating rivals at home. Without that, a title race seems unlikely.
Although there were no goals, the match was far from a typical “Italian” 0–0. Both halves offered good opportunities, and both goalkeepers deserved the highest marks for their teams. In the first 45 minutes, Thuram and Conceicao had Juventus’s best chances, while Simeone had a major counter-attacking opportunity for Torino.
The Argentine striker even scored early in the second half after a mistake by Gatti, but the assistant referee’s flag went up, and VAR confirmed it was offside.

Torino’s counters punished Juventus’s inefficient play. Che Adams had a huge chance in the 63rd minute, racing through the home defense, but Di Gregorio had an outstanding evening. Moments later, on the other end, David headed from close range, only for Alberto Paleari to shine in Torino’s goal.
The expected late surge from Juventus brought wave after wave of attacks, but Torino opted not to risk, instead focusing on holding onto what they had. Cross after cross from the Bianconeri was blocked by the resilient city rivals’ defense. In the end, nothing — nothing at all…
