This is sick - Chelsea break a world record to kidnap Cucurella from Man City!

Blues are paying 73,000,000 euros for Brighton full-back

If it looks like an overpaid transfer, sounds like the overpaid transfer, and shocks like a one, then it probably is an overpaid transfer.

That's all we can say about Marc Cucurella, whose sensational transfer from Brighton and Hove Albion to Chelsea has stunned the world.

The 24-year-old Spanish left-back will become the fourth most expensive signing in the history of Chelsea after Romelu Lukaku, Kai Havertz and Kepa Arrizabalaga.

That makes Cucurella by far the most expensive defender in the history of football and fifth on the list of defenders in the world.

He has been in London since Wednesday afternoon, where he was waiting for the green light from Brighton to perform the medicals that were carried out on Thursday evening, and not long after the Spaniard completed all the necessary checks, the freshest details of the transfer emerged, which are mind-boggling. But not in a positive sense. What Chelsea are doing is highly debatable because, although no one disputes Cucurella's talent and quality, it is unthinkable to pay 73,000,000 euros for a footballer who had one good season in the Premier League!
