Leverkusen's outcast Nadiem Amiri says no to Leeds United
Leeds United has suffered a significant setback in their transfer plans as Nadiem Amiri from Bayer Leverkusen unexpectedly rejected a move to the club at the last minute. And why? Because the city isn't nice!

The German midfielder appeared to be on the verge of joining Leeds United after both parties agreed to a $6.3 million transfer fee. Amiri, who has represented Germany five times, was identified as a key target by Leeds' manager, Daniel Farke. The club aimed to strengthen their squad before the transfer window closes, especially following their recent player exodus. However, Farke will have to look elsewhere after his compatriot decided against the move following a day spent in the city of Leeds and United's training centre.
The 26-year-old midfielder had flown to Leeds from Dusseldorf on a private jet with his family on Monday to explore the city, visit the club's training ground in the village of Thorp Arch, and engage in discussions with key people at Elland Road. Leeds supporters even spotted him during his city tour and published photos on social media. Although no official reason for the deal falling through has been published, many speculate that Amiri didn't like the city in Yorkshire and couldn't imagine relocating his pregnant wife to the area.

Amiri ultimately surprised Leeds United by choosing not to proceed with the move and withdrawing from the deal. His wife is due to give birth to their first child soon - true. The Whites have been relegated from the top tier - true. But both those facts were known to the German before the trip to England. The only thing that changed in the meantime is he's actually visited Leeds. Ouch.
