Man United suffered another blow as their recent acquisition, Noussair Mazraoui, will undergo surgery to correct cardiac arrhythmia

After Leny Yoro, Tyrell Malacia, Luke Shaw, and Harry Maguire, Manchester United lost yet another defender for a longer period. Namely, Noussair Mazraoui left the pitch at halftime during the Premier League match against Aston Villa four days ago and also temporarily withdrew from his national team ahead of Morocco's 2025 AFCON qualifiers games against Central African Republic due to health issues.

The 26-year-old, who had joined the Red Devils two months ago, suffers from a rare heart condition, cardiac arrhythmia and will undergo surgery to correct it. However, the break won't be short - at least a month until he starts practising again and a minimum of two months until he's able to return to the pitch.

A year and a half ago, while playing for Bayern Munich, Mazraoui had already had heart problems. Back then, it was an inflammation of heart tissue caused by COVID-19. The Moroccan was sidelined for two months, but the aforementioned illness apparently left consequences on his cardiovascular system.

Considering United's current situation in the defensive line and the absence of several players, Erik ten Hag will have serious headaches when making a lineup for the upcoming challenges, especially since Mazraoui was the only right-back on the team after Aaron Wan-Bissaka's move to West Ham. Hence, the Dutch tactician would probably have to mix things up and replace the Moroccan with one of the centre-backs - Lisandro Martinez, Matthijs de Ligt, Jonny Evans, or Victor Lindelof.
