Tax officials from the Land of the Rising Sun claim that the legendary ace misreported his income

It's been almost a year since Andres Iniesta's (39) adventure in Japan ended, but according to local media, the tax authorities are demanding a payment of 3.5 million euros from the legendary midfielder.

The trophy-winning Spanish footballer left Vissel Kobe, where he played for five years, to start a new experience in the United Arab Emirates. The Barcelona legend managed to make his mark in Asia, but the Japanese tax authorities were not satisfied with his administrative duties.

According to local media, the taxmen are demanding a payment of 580 million yen - around 3.5 million euros - because the former Spain international allegedly misreported his income while in the country. The presented data states that Iniesta collected around 140 million euros during the period in Japan.

Iniesta is on the threshold of his fifth decade and is playing less in the Emirates Club, with whom he is fighting for survival in the UAE championship.
