'The Good Boateng' is worse than 'The Bad Boateng'

The football half-brothers Boateng are no longer speaking to each other. Their relationship has been a strained one for over a decade but has now finally broken down completely. The reason? Jerome is a thug!

The 33-year-old Jerome, who represented Germany at the international level, has always been considered the nicer of the Boatengs, while his paternal half-brother Kevin-Prince was a bit of a naughty boy. Looking at the headlines today, it's plain to see that their roles have switched.

Jerome Boateng was sentenced on Thursday evening by the Munich district court for willful bodily harm and insult to a total of $2.13 million after his former partner accused him of attacking and insulting her. The former Bayern and Manchester City defender, who joined Olympique Lyonnais on a free transfer a few weeks ago, was accused of injuring his ex-girlfriend in a fight during a vacation in the Turks and Caicos Islands in 2018.

According to Jerome's ex-girlfriend, the footballer hurled a lamp at her which missed and then throwing a small cooling box which injured her arm before hitting her and pulling her hair.

The prosecutor Stefanie Eckert told the court that Sherin Senler, who was Boateng’s former partner, was a victim of domestic violence. She added that Boateng was a "victim of their mutually toxic relationship." However, Boateng had denied harming his ex-girlfriend.

When German newspaper Bild contacted 33-year-old Kevin-Prince, now a Hertha BSC player.

"I distanced myself from Jerome a long time ago. I appreciate and respect German law. I despise violence against women. I don't identify with my brother's actions and that's why I have nothing to do with him anymore."

Although they have the same father - an entrepreneur from Ghana - Kevin and Jerome grew up separately in different households in Berlin.

Prince returns as a pauper

They maintained a minimum of communication, but their relations went downhill just before the 2010 World Cup. Ghana's star Kevin-Prince was guilty of injuring then-German international Michael Ballack when the two went head to head in the FA Cup final. There was an uproar in Germany because a Berlin boy rendered one of their best players unavailable for football's most important tournament. Jerome, who chose to represent Germany, was one of the people who laid into Kevin. They would never really be brothers again. Not even half-brothers!

A source close to the older of the two brothers revealed that the pair stopped speaking months ago.
