That's how club legends are born - Tonali deserved it all

More good news for AC Milan fans. After one of Stefano Pioli's faithful soldiers - Rade Krunić - initialed a new contract with the Rossoneri yesterday, tonight came the officialization of what has been announced for a long time: the seven-time European champion has tied one of their most prominent players to himself until 2027 - Sandro Tonali.

The young midfielder has gone through a path of thorns in these two years with AC Milan. It took him time to adapt, during the first season many even had comments such as: "failure, nothing from this new Pirlo", so in the last months things finally fell into place.

In the past season, Tonali was one of the key factors in Milan's great success. Not only did he score some crucial goals (collecting a total of five pieces and three assists), but he had an exceptional impact on the game of the Milanese.

He became quite a regular in the national team, his price jumped to 50 million euros, there is even some kind of public discussion and advocacy to give him the captain's armband.

Talks about a new contract came as a natural consequence of everything...

From this distance, the memory of the summer of 2021 and the polemics about whether Milan should buy him from Brescia seem rather silly. Because let's recall, at first, only the expensive loan of 10 million euros was paid. And since Tonali didn't really show himself in the first months, Milan hesitated for a long time.

In the end, the following agreement was made: Tonali reduced his salary from 1.8 million to 1.2 million euros, while the Rossoneri cashed Brescia an additional 6.9 million euros. Mutual trust and patience thus resulted in a full hit.

And then, as a logical sequence, an increase in salary with a new contract. As of today, Sandro Tonali can count on 2.5 million euros net per year.

And probably the captain's armband in the near future. That's how club legends are born...
