The club further announced that coach Daniel Cadena and long-serving Seleman Matola will be in charge in the interim

Tanzanian giants Simba have parted ways with head coach Roberto Oliveira by mutual consent.

The decision to part ways with the former Gor Mahia coach comes two days after the heavy defeat in the Kariokor Derby. Simba were condemned to a 5-1 defeat by archrivals Yanga in what was one of the worst defeats for the club.

After the defeat, reports in Tanzanian media indicated that the former Vipers SC coach would be shown the door, and now the club has released a statement confirming that they have reached an agreement to part ways with the club.

“The Simba club has reached an agreement on both sides to terminate the contract with the head coach of the first team, Roberto Oliveira Goncalves Do Carmo (Robetinho),” read a statement from the club in part.

Midfielders’ coach Corneille Hategekimana has not been spared either, as he leaves alongside the Brazilian.

“We have also reached an agreement to terminate the contract of midfielders’ coach Corneille Hategekimana.”

“The leadership of Simba thanks these coaches for their contribution to our club, and we wish them all the best in their new roles”.

The club further announced that coach Daniel Cadena and long-serving Seleman Matola will be in charge in the interim as the club seeks to hire their new coach. The fate of Juma Mgunda, who deputized Robertinho, remains unclear, as the club did not talk about his exit or retention.

“In the transition period, our team will be under Coach Daniel Cadena, assisted by Seleman Matola. The process of finding new coaches has already started and is expected to be completed soon”.

The Brazilian was appointed Simba coach in January 2023.
