Tammy Abraham weighs in about his potential return to Chelsea

The season is in full swing, there are 10 more rounds in Serie A, there are four clubs fighting for the Champions League place, and Roma is among them, but instead of focusing on a potentially thrilling battle for the top four spots, the media in Italy is focused on departures, from Rome. If you look at the structure of Paulo Dybala’s contract, it’s easy to assume that any bigger club in Europe will be able to easily buy the Argentinian, if he is interested. But the question is: will Jose Mourinho and Tammy Abraham stay?

The Portuguese would like a crack in another big club before he calls it quits, and a potential PSG offer would be too tempting. On the other side, Ivan Zazzaroni, an editor in Corriere Dello Sport claims that the Portuguese was on holiday in London, where his family lives, and decided to stay in the Italian capital until 25024. On the other hand, Tammy Abraham is not a regular in Mourinho’s team anymore, but is still considered a transfer target to a number of clubs, mainly his former boyhood club Chelsea. Before moving overseas, Abraham came through the Blues' youth ranks and scored 30 goals in 82 appearances when Frank Lampard was in charge. But, he had to move when Thomas Tuchel arrived, as he didn’t get any chances in the first team anymore.

When asked about the return to the Premier League, he didn’t want to rule out anything.

“Would I go back there? In football you can never say never. Right now, my focus is here at Roma - we want to finish the season strongly. I haven’t started thinking about anything yet, apart from being here and doing my best. I wouldn’t say there’s unfinished business in England – I’m in no rush. Football has no location, it could be anywhere. Maybe I stay at Roma for the next decade, maybe I don’t. You never know what’s around the corner” said Abraham to FourFourTwo.

The focus in on Chelsea, who desperately need a proper striker for the next season. Abraham was accurate in his first season in Rome, as he scored 17 goals from 37 games, but the second season is not so good, with only 6 goals from 27 games, and he hasn’t started that much. But the former Chelsea man didn’t want to criticize Mourinho, on the contrary.

“Jose is a legend. I love him. He is what we call a real boss. He is a leader. When he speaks, you listen. He knows how to handle his players, he is one of the best in the world at it. He knows how to motivate you, how to really get under your skin. Even if you’re doing a good job, he’ll still try to get you to do more. He is never satisfied, he always wants more” said Abraham.
