Sofapaka midfielder Sébastine Sunday is confident that his team will halt their winless start in the season when the league resumes next weekend after the FIFA international break.

The former league champions are among the two sides who are yet to win a game six rounds into the 2023–2024 season.

AFC Leopards find themselves sailing in the same boat as Sofapaka, as the league giants haven't won a game thus far in the season too.

Both teams have already sacked their managers, with Sofapaka parting ways with Burundian Francis Haringingo and Leopards doing away with Tom Juma.

Sunday says the team has been working hard in training, and looking forward to clinching maximum points when they take on Kenya Police at the back of their minds.

"I am sure we will start getting positive results when the league resumes. The break has given us room to work on the areas that cost us in the previous rounds," said the Nigerian midfielder.

Sunday, who joined Batoto Ba Mungu three years ago, said converting scoring chances was the main reason the team was at the bottom of the log with a point.

"The problem has been scoring. We have been creating, but getting the ball into the net has been the problem. We are, however, doing our best to be sharp in front of the goal before resumption," he stated.

The defensive midfielder also blamed the poor run on the little time the team had in the pre-season, considering that more than ten players joined the club in the off-season transfer window.

"We had new players join the team in the window. It took us a while, but there is massive improvement," he added.
