Sterling beyond borders: Van Persie moves training camp to Belgium because of ex-EPL star

Since the Englishman still hasn't got his work permit, his new club, Feyenoord, had to relocate its training camp from the Netherlands to Belgium, so that he could practice with his new teammates

Raheem Sterling's abysmal spell with Chelsea is finally over, as he has officially joined the Dutch Feyenoord, where he'll play under the ex-Arsenal and Manchester United striker, Robin van Persie.

The former England international played his last game in May 2025 during his loan at Emirates Stadium, while his last match for the Blues was the clash against Bournemouth a year earlier. And once he hoped the struggling period was behind him, he suffered another blow, as he wasn't granted a work permit in the Netherlands and wasn't even allowed to train with the team.

However, Sterling's reputation is still so prestigious that it exceeds borders. Namely, given the situation, Van Persie and Feyenoord decided to relocate their training camp from the Netherlands to neighbouring Belgium, so that the winger could participate in sessions and practice with his new teammates.

And although it may seem like an odd move to many, Van Persie apparently sees nothing peculiar in it.

"That's allowed abroad. We're doing it for him, but I also want to work on our team development. We can have some good conversations and do something fun together."

"We'll see each week when he's fit for a match. That will take some time, but that seems logical to me, since he hasn't played for six months," the strategist stated via Daily Mail.

So, Sterling's career may be experiencing a severe downfall, but his name still carries some weight. Therefore, we could say that Raheem is beyond borders.
