Wins for Matasi and Mandela, bad day in office for Wambani

Austrian-born Kenyan defender Philipp Mwene clocked full time as Mainz 05 battled Eintracht Frankfurt to a one all draw in a Bundesliga fixture staged at the Venue Bank Park.

Mwene who opened his goal account in the Germany's elite football competition last week was on the verge of having a test of maximum points after his side took the lead in the eleventh minute only to concede the equalizer late in the game.

Mainz had broken the deadlock through Karim Onisiwo with Frankfurt responding in the 85th minute through Ajdin Hrustic

Another Kenyan international Anthony Wambani was withdrawn early in the second half as his side Vasalund went down 1-0 to Norrby at the Skytteholms IP in the Swedish second tier.

Wambani who joined the relegation battling club from former Shield Cup holders Bandari was replaced in the 58th minute by Alexander Duranic.

Norrby who sit seventh on the log bagged maximum points courtesy of Dijan Vukojevic who put the ball past the line four minutes to the half time whistle.

Elsewhere, Stars attacking midfielder Duke Abuya was missing as Zambian champions Nkana FC eased their relegation fears following a 2-0 over Power Dynamos in the Kitwe Derby staged at the Arthur Davies Stadium.

Nkana who are set to rekindle their rivalry with former champions Zesco United on Wednesday got the lead through Diamond Chikwekwe before Alex Ngong'a served his former employer with bitterness after putting the result beyond reach in the 90th minute.

In South Africa, Stars centre back Brian Mandela was introduced three minutes to stoppage time when a second string Mamelodi Sundowns squad piped TS Galaxy 1-0 at the Mbombela Stadium.

Mandela replaced Andile Jali in a match which red-hot Namibian forward Peter Shalulile was the hero as his goal in the 17th minute was enough to give Masandawana a win.

Similary, former Stars goalkeeper Patrick Matasi had an afternoon to remember after St Georges saw off Bahardar at the Hawassa Stadium.

Difaa el Jadida home to Masud Juma lost by a solitary goal to Hassania Agadir at the Stade Ben Ahmed El Abdi Stadium.
