Wanyama's CF Montreal lost to Santos Laguna in Mexico.
Victor Wanyama's CF Montreal suffered a heartbreaking 1-0 defeat in the hands of Mexico's Santos Laguna in a Concacaf Champions League round of 16 first leg match played on Wednesday morning in Mexico.
Romell Quioto thought that he has given the visitors an early lead when he found the back of the net after dribbling past a couple of players, the goal was however disallowed for a foul in the buildup. Lassi Lappalainen was adjudged to have fouled a Laguna player moment before the goal was scored.

The match was largely balanced with both teams creating goal-scoring opportunities which they did not take and when it looked like the match would end barren, Jesús Ocejo scored the winning goal for the hosts two minutes from time much to the dismay of Wanyama and his teammates.
Despite losing the game, Wanyama who captained the team in the game was named man of the match after putting a good shift in the middle of the park.
The two teams will face off again on 23rd February for the return leg Montreal Olympic Stadium where Montreal will be keen to turn the turn around.

In South Africa, Teddy Akumu was an unused substitute as his side played out to a barren draw with Cape Town City. The result leaves Chiefs third in the table with 29 points. They are 19 points off leaders Mamelodi Sundowns and one behind second placed rivals, Orlando Pirates. Next for them is an away match against Baroka.
