Defensive excellence has been the trademark of Tuchel's reign, and once again, he organised Chelsea superbly as they kept Real at bay and set up another mouth-watering clash with Manchester City
Thanks to Thomas Tuchel's tactical excellence, Chelsea qualified for their third Champions League final, their first since winning the competition in 2012. Tuchel has already masterminded a victory over Manchester City in the FA Cup semi-final, and a repeat in Turkey would cap an incredible debut season.
Chelsea boss praised his players and congratulated them for a 'fantastic achievement'.
"It was difficult in the first half when they had a lot of possession and made us suffer. We were dangerous on counter-attacks but never lost the desire or hunger to defend. It was a fantastic performance in the second half, and we could have scored earlier to be safe. This was another energetic performance full of positive attitude and hunger, the spirit to win."
This was clean sheet number 18 in 24 matches for Chelsea under Tuchel. Real Madrid managed just one shot on target in the final hour of Wednesday's game. The win was pure and deserved.
Thomas Tuchel has now beaten Zidane, Guardiola, Klopp, Mourinho, Ancelotti and Simeone (2x).

We're going to be watching the second all-English Champions League final in three years. While Tuchel says April's FA Cup semi-final win over Pep Guardiola's side doesn't give them an upper hand, it does make them confident of a repeat performance.
"The FA Cup win over City doesn't give us an advantage, but it gives us confidence. It was a very tight tie. They are the benchmark, and we wanted to close the gap to Man City. We will need the same level of performance again. It gave us belief because it is the highest level you can face."
It was said a long time ago that attack wins you games while defence wins you titles. Chelsea have turned their Stamford Bridge into a fortress by defending fiercely. However, being able to rely on your attacking players to score when it matters undoubtedly helps a lot.

The Blues' German forward Timo Werner hasn't been in terrific form since arriving from RB Leipzig last year for $62 million and was often ridiculed by fans on social media after missing a few easy chances and generally struggling in front of goal. But his steady performances of late and a pivotal opening goal against Real Madrid will remind everyone that he's a good player after all.
"When Thomas Tuchel arrived, we were ninth in the league, and now we reach everything - on the road to the top four, we can win the Champions League and the FA Cup. Our team is incredible. We are young, but not stupid to make easy mistakes."

Reaching the final is a tremendous coup for the Blues, especially after their poor start to the campaign. They have done incredibly well since the turn of the year, but they shouldn't be satisfied with what they've done so far. As Mason Mount said minutes after sealing the win against Real Madrid:
"We haven't won anything yet. We've got two massive cup finals, and hopefully, we can win them."
The final will take place in Istanbul on Saturday, 29 May. It's going to be played at Ataturk Olympic Stadium, where Liverpool celebrated their legendary 2005 Champions League comeback against AC Milan. Sixteen years later, another English club will lift the famous silver trophy there.
