Uruguayan mystery man finds his shooting boots in Liverpool's 3-1 victory over West Ham

The Reds are flying again - and it's Darwin Nunez who's given them the lift-off! Uruguayan striker has often proved unpredictable, missing chances and looking ill-adjusted to football in the Premier League, but today he did well and looked like the player who made his name with Benfica.

West Ham made the trip to Anfield, having lost their last six games at the legendary stadium. And despite their brave efforts, they were again beaten thanks to a good strike from the Uruguayan.

Mohamed Salah had given Liverpool the lead from the penalty spot. Still, Jarrod Bowen levelled with a fantastic fiving header, nipping in front of Virgil Van Dijk to steer a Vladimir Coufal cross beyond Allison.

But David Moyes' team couldn't cope with wave after wave of Liverpool attacks - and Darwin duly found the net past Alphonse Areola.

It was a fantastic finish from Nunez, who volleyed an Alexis Mac Allister looping ball into the net to send the Kop into raptures. That's the player they believed was a better recruit than Erling Haaland. Although Nunez has a long way to go to be in the same category as the Norwegian, goals like this will surely give him much-needed confidence to become Liverpool's main supplier of goals.

Klopp's men sealed the victory with a third goal from a corner. Van Dijk headed down the corner delivery, and Diogo Jota was in the right place to capitalize on the opportunity from close range.
