He was injured in the 20th minute after a duel, remained lying on the ground and it was immediately obvious that he was seriously injured. With tears and a painful grimace, he left the field.

The results of the magnetic resonance imaging are still awaited, but it is probably a rupture of the knee ligament, so the season is most likely over for Gavi.

"We will wait for the tests results... But we are worried, this is the most bittersweet victory I have experienced in my life," Spain coach Luis de la Fuente said.

The injury to Gavi was a shock for the Spanish players. At halftime, there was silence in the dressing room, as if it was a funeral. Even then it was clear that the injury was serious. Fans at Estadio Zorilla in Valladolid were even more worried when Ferran Torres celebrated the goal by holding up Gavi's number 9 shirt.
