
School Games: Solidarity Boys, Shanderema off to a good start in ball games

The Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association Term2 Ball Games kicked off earlier today in Kakamega
St Anthony Boys Kitale and Shanderema High School kicked off the Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association national games on a high note with a 8-0 obliteration of their opponents Matiliku and Khorof Harar respectively.
Solidarity Boys under the guidance of coach Peter Mayoyo dominated majority of the game played at Mabao grounds, Kakamega School with six different players on target.
In a one sided match, David Wekesa opened the scoring for the Rift Valley champions in with ninth minute on the clock before setting up teen sensation Aldrine Kibet ten minutes later who made no mistake from close range to double the lead.
Red hot Kibet pounced on a lose ball from Joseph Omuse in the 22nd minute to complete his brace and add a third for the 2018 East Africa champions. Solidarity Boys riot over the Eastern Region champions was far from over as Stanley Waswa hit a quick double to hand them a five nil lead heading into the breather.
Immediately after the break Stanley Waswa turned provider setting up Joseph Omuse for the sixth goal of the game. Junior Gregory and Alvin Kasavuli netted a goal each as Solidarity humiliated the Francis Kimanzi instructed side to go top of Pool A.
Shanderema Boys 8-0 Khorof Harar
At Bukhungu Stadium, Shanderema had to do without the services of their team captain and top scorer Mark Shaban as they thrashed North Eastern representatives Khafar Horor 8-0.
Kelly Madada put Shanderema ahead in with a nicely curled right footed shot in the fifth minute before winning a penalty for the eagles in the 24th minute which Maxwell Wamalwa made no mistake from the spot to double the lead.
Wamalwa was at the end of a nice breakthrough from the midfield position wiggling past the North Eastern defenders to send the ball into the far left bottom corner beyond custodian Jimal Abdullahi's reach.
Shanderema continued with the push against the North Eastern minnows despite the scorching sun with Nickson Mutimi taking advantage of a defensive mix up to send to the ball into the top right corner to hit a fourth with two minutes left before the break.
Shanderema looked more dangerous after the breather as Elvis Omondi scored five minutes into the second half to send a fully packed Bukhungu into wild celebrations.
Kevin Asuba boys continued to roar over their opponents as Mutimi scored two quick goals to complete his hat trick before substitute Collins Kati took the game far from Khafar reach with eighth of the game three minutes to the final whistle.
Other matches
In other matches staged on Tuesday afternoon, Nairobi region and tournament favorites Dagoretti High held on a first half goal to collect maximum points aganist Coast representatives Serani School.
Elsewhere, Agoro Sare came from behind to defeat Central champions Kirangari 2-1 in a highly contested match played at Mukumu Boys grounds.
With conclusion of round one soccer boys matches, Shanderema Secondary School take control of Pool A on goal difference as Solidarity Boys lead Pool B which also includes Dagoretti High School, Serani School and Matiliku.
