The Spaniard apparently didn't like the frequent late comments about the Cityzens' expenses during his stint and money spent on new reinforcements
Manchester City host Newcastle in the return game of the EFL Cup semi-finals, and after a 2-0 win in the first match, the grand final is on the horizon. Still, the Cityzens' boss Pep Guardiola spent most of the time in the pre-game press conference speaking about everything but the Magpies.
The club from Etihad spent €95 million during the recently finished January Transfer Window on the arrivals of Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth and Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace. City have strengthened their squad by bringing in some of the best Premier League players, but media reports about their expenses, which surpassed €2 billion since Pep's arrival, and rumours about the actual value of the Englishman's move (reportedly over €100 million, despite the "only" €23 million fee) apparently angered the Spanish tactician.
"I'm a little bit grumpy with them." 🤔

"I'm a little bit sad and upset because for the net spend for the last five years we are seventh in the Premier League, so I want to be the first."
"I don't understand how the club doesn't spend more money! I'm a little bit grumpy with them," Guardiola sarcastically stated via Sky Sports.
However, he did not stop there, as he touched on the rivals' expenses, taunting the six sides that spent more money than the Cityzens.
"We won in the past because we spent a lot but now six teams have to win the Premier League, the Champions League, the FA Cup because they spent more in the last five years. This is a fact, not an opinion."
"Good luck to the six teams who spent more in the last five years," Pep finished his ironic and snarky address in the press conference.
The clash between City and Newcastle is scheduled for tonight at 23.00, and the winner will face Arsenal (who beat Chelsea last night) in the grand final on March 22.
