Allardyce has made a name for himself in world football and specifically in England, where he has helped five different teams, including Bolton Wanderers, Everton, Blackburn Rovers, Sunderland and Crystal Palace, to avoid relegation from the English Premier League (EPL).

Back in Kenya, Pamzo has equally proven his credentials of rescuing teams from the wide jaws of relegation, having done so with Posta Rangers, Shabana FC and most recently with APS Bomet, making football lovers brand him as the Kenyan Sam Allardyce.

Speaking to Mozzart Sport after successfully guiding APS Bomet out of the relegation zone, the experienced tactician spoke of the flattering comparison.

“Being, compared to Allardyce, is massive. He is a brilliant and top coach who has made a name for himself by rescuing teams, and so the comparison makes me know that I am doing a good job,” said Pamzo.

The former Gor Mahia coach went ahead to reveal the secret behind his success in helping teams to survive the dreaded drop.

“It is all about hard work. Again, you have to be a smart coach, and in that situation, experience counts a lot.”

Despite his previous success with Shabana and Posta Rangers, Pamzo revealed why he considers the recently-concluded season with APS Bomet as his best.

“This one was special because with Shabana, we survived on the last day, with Posta, it was via playoffs, while with APS, we did it with two games to go despite the odds being against us,” he explained.

For the upcoming season, Pamzo does not fancy the relegation battle; instead, he is seeking to replicate his 2011 success with Tusker FC that saw the Brewers lift the league title.

“I do not just want to rescue teams, I also want to win the league title once again, and hopefully we do it with APS Bomet.”
