Salah scores his 100th Premier League goal in Liverpool win over Leeds
Reading Time: 3min | Sun. 12.09.21. | 20:50
Harvey Elliott, who played an excellent match was seriously injured in the 60th minute
Good old Liverpool is back! No big transfers were needed this summer for the Reds, it was just enough for all injured players to come back, and that was it. Even the high-flying Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds couldn’t stop Jurgen Klopp and his men, especially Mohammed Sallah, who scored his 100th Premier League goal and became the second African to do so: Leeds-Liverpool 0-3. The win was bitter-sweet however, as youngster Harvey Elliott, who played an excellent match was seriously injured in the 60th minute.

Liverpool was all over Leeds in the first half. The Reds were determined to silence the Elland Road crowd and after 20 minutes, they did that after Salah’s goal. Before the Egyptian scored, both Liverpool and Leeds had two good chances, but Jota was not precise and Rodrigo managed to shoot straight at Allison. And then Salah did his magic and scored his 100th Premier League goal. Matip played the ball wide to Trent Alexander-Arnold and his low cross was met by Salah. The Egyptian became the 30th player to score at least 100 goals in the Premier League, and he nearly added another one five minutes after, but it was nulified due to his offside position. Apart from Rodrigo shot at the beggining, Leeds have done nothing in the first half, and were trailing, and deservedly so. Junior Firpo was really having a difficult time during this match, as he couldn’t cope with Alexander-Arnold and Salah, who went at him repeatedly.
13 - Since the start of last season, Liverpool have scored more Premier League goals via corners than any other team (13). Threat. #LEELIV https://t.co/cRAPP0cOT9

Boosted by the statistics, (Liverpool are unbeaten in their last 91 Premier League games when leading at half-time) the Reds came back strong in the second half and scored after just five minutes. Alexander-Arnold’s corner was picked up by Van Dijk, whose header fell at the feet of Fabinho for 2-0. And then came the infortunate challenge by Struijk which seriously hurt young Havey Elliott. Salah called for medics immediately, and players who saw it originally have walked away in shock. Jurgen Klopp was furious, and Struijk was shown the red card. The game was effectively over, as Leeds tried to attack with 10 men, but ended up with a goal in their own net, deep in injury time.
