Omurwa sent for an early shower for a off the ball incident
Johnstone Omurwa might have been the villain during the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier match against Egypt on Thursday but his teammate Daniel Sakari has hailed the Wazito man for the role he played in passing the instructions from the technical bench to the rest of the defense.
The youthful defender was on course to making a solid debut at the competitive level but was sent off with less than fifteen minutes on the clock for an off-the-ball incident.
His expulsion, slowed Stars' search for the winning goal as the Pharaos crawled back into the game to hold Stars to a one-all draw.
Sakari who was also making his first appearance in the qualifiers says Omurwa played a crucial role in organizing the players on the pitch, precisely the defence courtesy of his vocalness .
Omurwa makes his first ever AFCON qualifier start.

He conceded that the Wazito defender would pick instructions from the technical bench and from his experienced pair Joash Onyango and communicate it to the rest of the defenders as well as the other players.
“Joash doesn’t talk much but he is talented in reading the game. Omurwa on the other hand is good at communicating what Joash sees and what the technical bench says. He was outstanding until the unfortunate incident but I am certain he will chin up and learn from the mistake,” he noted.
Sakari in the meantime hopes he can build on his performance and take the right-back role at the national team for keeps.
The Kariobangi Sharks player punched above his weight in the game by keeping the dreaded Aston Villa winger Mahmoud Trezeguet quiet in the game and was aggressive in the opponent's box.
With Stars coaches struggling to find a permanent right back, the Kakamega High School alumni hopes he fit in going forward.
“It was a nice challenge for me to come up against a player who I only see on the screen. He did not trouble me a lot as Abdallah Hassan helped in defending and Egypt also changed their playing style after taking the early lead. I hope I will build on the performance and establish myself as the first choice right-back," he added.
