Rupia crowned December Player of the Month

Free scoring AFC Leopards forward awarded bagged six goals in the first month of 2020/2021 top-flight season
Elvis Rupia was named the December player of the month in the Football Kenya Federation Premier League after scoring six goals in four games in the month of December.
“First of all I want to thank God for the award. I feel good for winning it. Scoring the goals was as a result of unity and teamwork from the whole team and set play from the coach. I’d love to win it again. I hope this is not the last time I get it,” said an excited Rupia.
Elvis scored his opening goal of the season against Tusker before going on to score a brace and a hat trick against Bidco United and Sofapaka respectively to ensure AFC Leopards kept a perfect streak in the opening three games.
Rupia went on to state that the hard work doesn’t stop and set his sights on working hard to ensure Leopards go on to compete for the title. “For now we will continue to work as a team. I have my own targets that I will keep private for now. I’m grateful for being called up to the national side. But for now, we’ll continue to work as a team on our target. Our target this season js the league nothing else,” Rupia stated
“This is the beginning of the Football Kenya Federation Premier League awards. We’ll be having the awards every month and it will culminate in the final gala awards,” said the chair of the awards panel James Waindi.
Elvis Rupia fended off competition from KCB goalkeeper Brian Okoth who only conceded one goal in five games and Kariobangi Sharks forward Eric Kapaito who scored four goals in four games. “This first award Machapo won it but it was very difficult to choose between Elvis, Okoth and Kapaito. In the end he stood out among the three due to his goals,” James stated.
Elvis Rupia and AFC Leopards now set their sights on the Betway Cup that takes centre stage this weekend. AFC Leopards will be taking on Tiki FC in Wundanyi Stadium.
