"Thank you for teaching me everything I know. I'm forever grateful and appreciate you. Life will never be the same. Protecting and guiding me like no else could. I won't be the same. The pain and tears are flowing big time, but God will give me the strength to get myself back together," Romelu wrote.
Roger Lukaku made his first football steps at Vita Club from Kinshasa as a 19-year-old, before moving to the Ivorian Africa Sports, where he spent three seasons.
He started his international career in 1990, joining the Belgian second-tier side Boom. In the following nine years, he wore jerseys of four more Belgian teams - Seraing (with which he was the most efficient, scoring 33 goals in 67 matches), Germinal Ekeren, Mechelen, and Oostende.
In the 1996/1997 season, Lukaku Sr played for the Turkish Genclerbirligi, his only club outside Africa and Belgium.
Roger Lukaku was a Zaire international between 1993 and 1996. He made 11 appearances for the Leopards, scored five goals, and participated in two African Cups of Nations (in 1994 and 1996).
He retired in 1999 and hasn't been involved in football since.
