Roma learn from Juve's mistakes: Lecce fail to stun another giant

Three days ago, the Salentini snatched a massive point in Turin, but today didn't stand a chance against the Wolfess at home, losing easily 2-0

Three days ago, Lecce stunned Juventus in Turin, "stealing" a point against the Serie A giants. However, a new tough challenge came for the Salentini today, and this time, they failed to repeat the success from a duel against the Old Lady.

Today, at Stadio Via del Mare, Fabrizio Del Rosso's men did not stand a chance against Roma, which managed to somewhat make up to their fans after a defeat to Atalanta in Bergamo - 2-0.

From the opening minutes of the match, it was clear that the visitors were more motivated and better organized, scoring the early deadlock-breaker only 14 minutes into the game, when Evan Ferguson exploited Paulo Dybala's timely pass.

Gian Piero Gasperini's criticism of the Irishman apparently worked, as the Brighton loanee found the net for the third time in the previous five clashes.

Roma's advantage at the break could have been even more convincing, but VAR and the custodian Wladimiro Falcone saved Lecce after Niccolo Pisilli and Ferguson's attempts.

After the break, the Giallorossi continued playing in the same rhythm, waiting for their chance to hand a lethal blow to the home crew. That moment came in the 71st minute, when Artem Dovbyk seized the opportunity after Dybala's corner kick and Pisilli's shot to deflect the ball into the net.

This way, Roma returned to the fourth Serie A spot, while Lecce are 16th and in for a fierce relegation battle.
