The midfielder joined Gor Mahia in the off season transfer window for his third stint in the club.

Gor Mahia midfielder George Blackberry Odhiambo has been left impressed with the quality in the squad after making a return to the club in the concluded transfer window.

The former Randers FC midfielder made a return to the club for his third stint after making his breakthrough at K’Ogalo back in 2009 and made a return back in 2014 before rejoining in the offseason transfer window.

He was part of the big chunk of players who were shown the door at Ruaraka as the Brewers embarked on a rebuilding phase after landing the title.

Despite having many new faces in the squad since he last left in 2019, Blackberry noted that Gor Mahia have quality players who will come of age with time.

“There are many new faces, I only know about three or four players who we played with before in the club but I think they are quality players and I think they should be given time,” said Blackberry.

The midfielder was handed his first minutes of the season in the barren draw against Ulinzi Stars and convinced head coach Mark Harrison who started him in the 1-1 stalemate against Police FC.

Having won the league with Tusker FC last season, Blackberry is hoping that the current Gor Mahia squad will reclaim the title as they take a game at a time.

“It depends on the work rate of the players but we take it a game at a time and with time we will know where the team is at but I think we have a good team,” said Blackberry.
